RoboThink's STEM programs are developed based on sound research priciples that help inspire better problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
Why is self-confidence important?
Most children struggle in school, not because of their ability to learn, but lack of confidence in their ability to learn. RoboThink helps foster and nurture self-confidence in children through our fun and hands on robotics and coding programs. RoboThink programs create an individualized learning space around each child that progresses at their own comfortable pace.
Just the right pace
Everyone learns at a different pace.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, RoboThink developed a self-paced STEM instructional model that caters to the individual pace of each student. Not too fast, not too slow, not too hard, not too easy, just the right pace is an integral part of building self-confidence.
Why is Critical Thinking Important?
It’s a skill that separates innovators from followers.
Being able to think critically opens up a word of possibilities for each child. It fosters self-reflection and understanding solutions beneath a critical eye. RoboThink fosters critical thinking through our robotics and coding programs through self-directed challenges and applications of concepts learned.
It starts with a question.
RoboThink’s curriculum is based around questions that encourage brainstorming and discussion.
RoboThink’s robotics and coding curriculum require research and problem solving, both closely tied to critical thinking. Knowing which information to discard and which to pursue involves mastering the proper use of information. At RoboThink, acquiring information isn’t enough. Students are asked to analyzing information to determine if it is true or not, and then applying the data to the question.
Why Problem Solve?
Problems help build perseverance, resilience and character.
For a child, this is an important life skill they will need to develop so they are able to make healthy decisions for themselves. A child with good problem solving skills will be able to use these skills in new social situations as well as apply them to their academic learning. They will not be daunted by new work or new tasks, but instead have the self- belief and ‘can-do’ attitude to give it a go.
The 8 - Level STEM Curriculum
Level 1 - Junior Engineer 1 (30 Lesson Modules)
An introduction to STEM for aspiring junior engineers.
Junior Engineering is an introduction robotics course for students new to the RoboThink program. This level introduces students to RoboThink's unique robotics hardware which includes how to use the building system, an introduction into how simple gears work and how basic electronics work. Students are asked to apply STEM concepts that they have learned in unique challenges and apply their own problem solving and critical thinking skills to find solutions.
Level 2 - Junior Engineer 2 (26 Lesson Modules)
Introduction to coding robots.
In Jr. Engineer 2, students now have a good grasp of how fundamental robotics work with RoboThink. Now students are also introduced to early coding education concepts such as sequencing and loops in hands-on lesson plans. Students also learn how to use more advanced electronics.
Level 3 - Engineer 1 (28 Lesson Modules)
Introductory engineering program.
Engineer 1 is for beginners RoboThinkers who are 8 years old and up and for younger students advancing to the next level. Lessons introduce more abstract building concepts and intermediate gear ratios. Students also learn coding through RoCode, RoboThink’s intermediate coding education software.
Level 4 - Engineer 2 (20 Lesson Modules)
How machines see, hear and touch.
Engineer 2 is for advancing students. Students are introduced to more advanced building cells and advanced gear types. Students also learn how to use sensors and use data from sensors to build robots that react to the environment.
Level 5 - Advanced Engineer 1 (13 lessons Modules)
Advanced robotics.
Welcome to advanced robotics. Students now understand how to use a servo motor, a motor found in many advanced robots around the world. Students learn how to interpret sensor values and use them in coding logic to allow robots they build to make decisions.
Level 6 - Advanced Engineer 2 (13 lessons Modules)
Mastering logic.
In Advanced Engineering 2, students learn how to master the concept of If & Else statement. This is a core fundamental concept universal to many coding languages. Students are also introduced to RoCode, RoboThink’s advanced coding education software which opens up possibilities for more complex coding functions.
Level 7 - Expert Engineer 1 (27 lessons Modules)
Mastering complex coding tasks.
Students now have a thorough understanding of RoboThink’s robotics hardware and should have a great sense of spatial awareness and critical thinking abilities. Students should also display mastery of If & Else logic. Students are now asked to apply what they have learned in a series of challenges and problems.
Level 8 - Master Engineer 1 (24 lessons Modules)
The Best of the best.
Students who complete the master engineer course are an elite group of students who have studied with the program for multiple years. Students will show a visible difference in their reasoning, problem solving, spatial awareness and critical thinking abilities.
OUR PROGRAMS:
• Develop problem solving, critical thinking and spatial awareness skills
• Have different themes and 100s of builds to engage students at all skill levels
• Nurture a love for science, creativity and learning
• Are hands on and make learning fun and engaging!
RoboThink is a step-by-step international learning program. All levels accepted. Our exciting STEM programs develop core STEM skills that students apply to school subjects and their future careers, while fostering a love for science and robotics. With RoboThink’s exclusive robotics kit and our STEAM curriculum that is NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) aligned, students have a blast learning about robotics, engineering, technology and other STEM subjects.
